Set up the L2TP VPN connection on Android 4.0+



Here is a short how-to which will guide you through the setup and use of personal L2TP VPN without pre shared key on your Android phone:

 

Step 1.  Open the settings app – e.g. from the app drawer of your launcher. Tap on More.

Step2. Tap VPN.

You might get asked to select a screen lock method if you haven’t done so before (Pattern, PIN, Password, Swipe…) – Google unfortunately forces VPN users to do this nowadays.

Step3. Tap “Add VPN network”.

Step5: select “L2TP

Step6: Modify your settings as explained below:

  1. Name: l2tp VPN connection(optional)
  2. Server address: Enter an IP or hostname of a VPN server; you can find them in Client Area, under the VPN Servers tab.
  3. L2TP Secret: (Leave blank)
  4. Tap “Save” to save this new VPN profile.

Step7: You’ll find the VPN connections you created in the list now.
Tap one of them to start the connection process.

Step8:Enter your VPN username and password. You can find them in the client area on our website, by going to “My VPNS“. Make sure you use your VPN username and password and NOT the client area credentials.

Step9:Thats It! You have now successfully setup a L2TP VPN connection on the NicVPN server

If any error is encountered connect to NicVPN using the IP addresses instead of server’s name. You can find the list of the IP addresses when you login to Client Area, under the VPN Servers tab.
